Title:                          Regional Field Organizer
Reports to:                Field Director

Summary

The Democratic Party of Wisconsin is looking for regional field organizers.

Job Responsibilities

Field Organizers will be responsible for recruiting, managing and coordinating volunteers and programs in their region of the state.

Field Organizers will be assigned to a specific geographical area where they will manage volunteer training and recruitment, voter registration, absentee and early voting programs and voter contact programs such as phone banks and canvasses. They will also work to build political relationships with local elected officials, Democratic Party, and allied organizations.

Wisconsin will be a battleground presidential state and has a targeted US Congressional race.

Qualifications

·         Political campaign experience

·         Strong work ethic and verbal skills

·         Enthusiasm about Democratic candidates in the 2008 general election

·         Ability to organize, train, motivate and speak before groups of voters

·         Knowledge of Wisconsin politics a plus

·         Candidates should be highly organized and self-motivated

·         Have reliable automobile

·         Must make a commitment to stay with the DPW until through 2008 cycle.

Title:                        Finance Director
Reports to:                  Executive Director

Job Responsibilities
The Finance Director is responsible for developing and executing a statewide fundraising operation for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. The focus of the Finance Director’s activities will include:

  • Writing a comprehensive finance plan and securing buy-in from partners and allies.
  • Researching donors, as well as scheduling and managing call time and meetings with the State Chair and other principals.
  • Building and maintaining strategic relationships with donors in and outside of Wisconsin.
  • Planning small and large-scale fundraising events around the state.
  • Managing the party’s low-dollar donor program, including membership renewals and other direct mail solicitations.
  • Implementing and expanding the development of online fundraising campaigns.

This person will also work with the DPW’s compliance team to ensure accurate State and Federal Finance reporting.

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive understanding of political fundraising principles and tactics.
  • 2+ years experience raising funds for candidates, campaigns, or organizations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to raise money from both high and low-dollar donors.
  • In-depth understanding of Federal and State of Wisconsin campaign finance laws.
  • Working knowledge of campaign finance reporting software required; experience with Patton Technologies (PT Database) preferred.
  • Ability to work long days and irregular hours.
  • Knowledge of Wisconsin politics and donors a plus.
  • Positive, energetic attitude.

2008 Internships

 Want to break into politics? Get to know the names and faces of Wisconsin’s leading Democrats and help us gear up for the Presidential election by interning with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin (DPW). The DPW is currently seeking responsible and capable individuals who are interested in learning first-hand about politics. Internships with the DPW frequently catapult qualified individuals into jobs in politics, and are a great way to help Democrats win in the 2008 elections!

The DPW is now accepting internship applications for the 2008 Spring Semester. DPW internships require a time commitment of 10 to 15 hours a week.

Internships Focus Areas
DPW interns focus on one particular area of operations and Party activity.  At times, however, all interns are expected to assist whatever areas are needed.  Focus Areas include:

v      Communications & Press

v      Membership & Party Building

v      Fundraising

v      Political

v      Assembly Democratic Campaign Committee

v      State Senate Democratic Committee

 

Internship Responsibilities
Responsibilities associated with an internship may include membership recruitment and outreach, list management, monitoring the media, various writing projects, event planning, research, and various special projects as needed by the Party and DPW staff.  A more detailed explanation of responsibilities associated with each area of focus will follow once your application has been
received.

Internship Qualifications

1.     Be dependable, detail-oriented, motivated, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment;

2.     Be interested in politics and the political process and be knowledgeable about Democratic Party issues;

3.      Consider themselves a Democrat;

4.      Be available to work at least 10-15 hours each week Monday through Friday;
