Oshkosh Northwestern: Republican U.S. Senate candidate Ron Johnson, stimulus critic, inquired about stimulus funds for Grand repairs

Ron Johnson, the Republican U.S. Senate candidate who has been critical of the federal stimulus bill, sought stimulus funds for renovations to the Grand Opera House when he was president of the Grand's board in March 2009.

In an e-mail obtained by the Northwestern, Johnson called Oshkosh Area Community Foundation CEO Eileen Connolly-Keesler to ask about the availability of stimulus dollars to help fund the $1.8 million repair project. Connolly-Keesler sent an e-mail to state Rep. Gordon Hintz, D-Oshkosh, to see what funds might be available.

"I just got a call from Ron Johnson about the Grand and stimulus money," Connolly-Keesler wrote in a March 25 e-mail. "I can't imagine it will pay for non-profit buildings but I am willing to make some calls if you think it would work."

I just read an article in the Journal Sentinel today (September 26). Why does a person who is a millionare think that just because he is wealthy, would be a successful Senator. He obviously has no clue what it is like to be an average citizen in the United States. There was a list of what he favors. He doesn’t favor anything. He is AGAINST the Health Care Bill, which means he is against helping people who cannot afford health care. He is against insuring CHILDREN who cannot be insured because of pre-existing conditions. He is against people fighting diseases such as cancer whose insurance has been cancelled. He is AGAINST saving lives. He is for allowing consumers to be able to purchase insurance across state lines. That’s a great idia, so the people who cannot afford insurance in Wisconsin will not be able to afford insuance across state lines also.
I wonder how many lives will be saved between now and the November elections because of this new insurance program. Mr. Johnson (hopefully NOT the future Senator Johnson). Is a typical Tea Bag Republican that knows how to COMPLAIN, but never ever has a better idea. I am sick and tired of paying CEOs of insurance companies billions of dollars for more expensive rates each year with less and less coverage. Please help Wisconsin and the United States, by retaining one of the best Senators in this Country- Russ Feingold
Thank you,
