New State Tax Rankings Reflect Strong Democratic Leadership

MADISON – Wisconsin tax burdens have dropped to, at, and below the national average thanks to Governor Doyle and our Democratic leadership. Today, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that since being one of the dismal top-five states with the highest income tax during Tommy Thompson’s massive spending days, Democrats have moved Wisconsin’s ranking down to 15th place – a ranking much closer in line with the national average. Budget Provisions a Mystery to Scott Walker

MADISON – After hasty vetoes of 2010 Milwaukee County budget provisions, Scott Walker admitted that he doesn’t even know what the budget contains. Walker claims he mistakenly added eight unpaid furlough days for the Milwaukee sheriff’s deputies and jailers next year and is seeking legal advice to sort out his mess.

MADISON – The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported today that Republican candidate for governor Scott Walker is seeking an endorsement from failed Alaskan governor Sarah Palin. In a move that solidifies him as an extreme right-wing candidate, Walker reportedly met with Palin after her appearance at a Wisconsin Right to Life rally in Milwaukee last month.

MADISON – Tonight, the Affordable Health Care for America Act was passed by the House of Representatives, an important step towards ensuring every American has access to quality, affordable, stable and secure health care coverage. This legislation will finally rein in the insurance companies’ worst practices while extending coverage to 36 million Americans and cutting the deficit by $104 billion in the next ten years. The bill was supported by a wide range of groups including doctors, patients, seniors, consumers and Americans across the country. It received only one Republican supporter.
