Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chairman Joe Wineke released the following statement today, after Governor Doyle signed the Compassionate Care Bill into law.

“I’m very pleased to see the Compassionate Care Bill signed into law today. No woman should face inadequate health care after being raped, and Wisconsin hospitals will now provide crucial care to victims of rape and incest.

“I commend the Governor and Democrats in the legislature for their hard work on this bill. Extreme GOP factions tried to kill the bill from day one. But despite their efforts, today is a victory of common sense values over extreme GOP factions.”
