MADISON – At the same time that Scott Walker is traveling around the state singing his own praises and touting the “tools” he gave localities to offset his budget’s crippling reductions in state aid, the Elmbrook School District is faced with the harsh reality that they may be forced to shutter a beloved neighborhood elementary school in order to close their budget deficit.

“Scott Walker keeps trying to convince the people of Wisconsin that his so-called “reforms” are working, but as more and more localities are faced with making devastating choices to offset Walker’s draconian spending cuts, it has become painfully clear that Walker’s agenda had nothing to do with providing relief for working Wisconsin families and everything to with grabbing power and giving tax breaks to the super-rich,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate said Wednesday. “Scott Walker claims he gave local governments and school districts the “tools” to deal with his budget cuts – but it looks the only tool they got was the axe.”
