As Americans pause to reflect on the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech during the March on Washington, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Mike Tate released the following statement:
"The March on Washington was not just about racial equality, but also about economic equality. Were Dr. King alive today I'm confident that he would take pride in the progress we've made in building a more just, equal society. But I am equally confident that he would remind us all that the journey goes on, and that the dream of equality and opportunity remains out of reach for too many. It is with both great pride in the progress we've made, and a solemn understanding of the work which remains, that the Democratic Party of Wisconsin today rededicates itself to the cause of promoting equality, justice, and economic opportunity for everyone."
