"After nearly $8 million-and-counting in support from Dick Uihlein, there's no question that Kevin Nicholson is bought and paid for by an out-of-state billionaire from Illinois"
MADISON -- For more than a year, Illinois billionaire Dick Uihlein has poured millions of dollars into outside groups that are working to buy a Senate seat for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kevin Nicholson. And today, Yahoo News reports that Uihlein has now spent "some $8 million" on TV and radio ads as he "singlehandedly" tries to buy a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin.
Here are the key takeaways in Yahoo News' report on Uihlein's support for Nicholson:
- Illinois billionaire Dick Uihlein is backing Nicholson "to the tune of some $8 million."
- Uihlein has "almost singlehandedly boosted" Nicholson, who is "basing his campaign around an attack on the same political establishment that Walker represents in Wisconsin."
- "Many Republicans in Wisconsin are mystified not only by Uihlein’s support for Nicholson, but by the nearly obsessive level of it."

"After nearly $8 million-and-counting in support from Dick Uihlein, there's no question that Kevin Nicholson is bought and paid for by an out-of-state billionaire from Illinois," said Brad Bainum, DPW spokesperson for the 2018 Senate race. "From backing deep cuts to Medicare and Social Security, to embracing tax breaks for the richest Americans and large corporations like Pfizer, it's clear that Nicholson is running to work for his corporate special interests backers in the Senate, not Wisconsin's working families."
